A fifteen year old who wins gold in the Grand Prix? There's no doubt he would get the title of Ultimate Figure Skater and an invitation to Hope's Peak Academy. Of course, given his intentions to keep winning gold, and even represent Russia the next Winter Olympics, he spends a lot of his school year absent for rigorous training and global competitions. So he isn't even in the country when Junko Enoshima decides to bring the entire world to its knees with despair. A second gold medal does little to mitigate the horror of what happens next.

It's a while later before things settle down. The Future Foundation sends him out to the facility on Jabberwock Island, where a bunch of his classmates are basically living. Most of them are in comas, he's told, and the rest are working to try and save them... the files and videos he's given are pretty fucked up. Yuri is s'posed to convince them to come help restart Hope's Peak Academy. And have a fun vacation while he's there!

It's been a couple years since he's seen Fuyuhiko and Peko, but they were just about the only assholes he found remotely tolerable (apart from Coach, and even then... that was merely a relationship between an athlete and a team manager. He isn't Katsudon Yuuri crossing those kinds of boundaries.) So that's why he's in Fuyuhiko's cottage, all in black, booted feet on the bed as he reads through the island travel guide. Looks up when Fuyuhiko enters, smiles meanly: "Nice eyepatch."
